The Hobbit

What are One Acts?

A one-act play is storytelling at its most potent. Distilling a complete narrative arc into a single, continuous sequence. Unlike a traditional full-length production, it unfolds without an intermission, offering a concentrated burst of emotion, conflict, and character development. Think of it as the "short story" of the theater world: it moves quickly, hits hard, and leaves a lasting impression by focusing on a pivotal moment in time.

  • Starlight Multigenerational Productions - Shows featuring high school, college, and adult performers.  These shows rehearse 3 times a week for 8 weeks and perform 2-4 times.  There is no cost for participation, though all are expected to sell tickets - ON HIATUS.
  • Children's Caravan Productions - These traveling shows feature 3-6 college and adult aged actors and rehearse as needed for a few short weeks.  They then perform at venues all over the area for 6-8 summer weeks.  Actors are paid for participation.

Our unlikely hero, Bilbo Baggins, would much rather be sitting in his cozy Hobbit Hole with a cup of tea and a plate of bacon and eggs. However, he somehow finds himself on a magically mystical adventure. Staged with speed and surprises, you’ll be delighted by this exciting new telling of Tolkien’s beloved story as Bilbo travels through freezing mountains and frightening forests, meeting all sorts of fierce and wonderful creatures  — some who want to eat him and others who turn into dear friends. And discovers that some things are truly worth fighting for.
